About Dumpling Den
Handmade dumplings and Chinese food in Fort Lee, NJ.
Located at 249 Main St, Fort Lee, NJ 07024, Dumpling Den operates as a shanghainese serving Fort Lee in New Jersey. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Dumpling Den at (201) 482-0905; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is pos.chowbus.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

I came to NYNJ for the World Cup, and decided to stay longer partly for the food scene After a few days in Leonia, I decided to have something that would not be Korean When I passed in front of Dumpling Den, I first noticed their welcoming logo, and then when I saw their menu, I knew this was the place I wanted to choose When I came in, I appreciated the decoration, the order & cleanliness, and the kindness of the staff (special mention to Yoomee). Between the different staff members it's possible to speak in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish They have a bathroom for customers, a TV, Wi-Fi... The menu is both in English and Chinese, with some items put in the spotlight with pictures They have lots and lots of food items, with lunch signal combos, noodle soups, rice plates, dumplings, buns, appetizers, cold dishes, entrees, desserts I personally went for pan fried pork buns, dumpling samplers (a set of 8, with 2 of kimchi, 2 of vegetables, 2 of chicken, and 2 of a mix of chicken+pork+shrimp), simmered abalone rice (with a soy sauce boiled egg, and bok choy - Chinese cabbage), along with coconut water As a dessert, I had mini eight treasure steamed glutinous rice, along with Wang

This dumpling spot in Fort Lee is such a hidden gem! Great food, generous portions, and amazing value. Everything has that authentic Shanghai and Dongbei home-style flavor. The chive and pork boiled dumplings are a must-order. Their signature dumplings and xiaolongbao are all handmade by Shanghai aunties, so they’re incredibly fresh and comforting. They honestly reminded me of my mom’s cooking (even though I’m not from Shanghai 😂 We devoured the dumplings as soon as they hit the table and immediately regretted not ordering more because we spent too much of our appetite on the entrées. Next time, I’m definitely coming back for the xiaolongbao! Every dish was huge, and the four of us left completely stuffed. Even better, every dish was under $20, which is hard to beat these days. As a summer special, every table also gets a complimentary cup of sweet sago dessert, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend: Chive & Pork Boiled Dumplings Pork Bone & Pickled Cabbage Stew Chongqing Spicy Chicken Hand-Torn Cabbage Di San Xian (Potato, Eggplant & Green Pepper Stir-Fry)

Had an excellent birthday dinner out. Everything was delicious, staff was very courteous. Food was hot and fresh. Very reasonably priced and I like marking what I want on the menu.

I frequently order takeout from here and have been mostly happy with the food. The dumplings are a standout, and I also really enjoy the stir-fried rice cake and ho fun (flat rice noodles). One thing to note—like with many Chinese dishes, the food can be a bit greasy, so if it sits for too long, some oiliness may come out. Overall, it’s a reliable spot for tasty takeout.
